Frequently Asked Questions

Straight answers to the questions people ask most about wood flooring in Wandsworth.

How much does wood flooring cost to fit in Wandsworth?

It depends on the board, the pattern, the size of the rooms and the state of the subfloor, so we do not publish per-square-metre prices that would not match your job. A free site survey lets us put an exact price in a written quote.

Is the site survey really free?

Yes. We visit, measure, check the subfloor and talk through the options. The written quote is free and carries no obligation.

Do you supply the flooring?

Yes. We supply and fit solid wood, engineered, herringbone and parquet flooring, with the manufacturer's guarantee on the boards.

Are you insured?

Yes. R3 Carpentry, who carry out the work, are fully insured.

Who actually does the work?

Wood Flooring Wandsworth is an enquiry service. Your enquiry is passed to R3 Carpentry, a separate local carpentry business, who survey, quote and fit the floor. See our referral disclosure for details.

What guarantee do I get?

The boards carry the manufacturer's guarantee. The terms depend on the product, and we give you the details for your chosen board with the quote.

Do you sand or restore old floors?

No. We supply and fit new wood flooring. We do not offer sanding, refinishing or restoration.

Can you fit over underfloor heating?

Often yes, using engineered boards suited to heating. We check the heating system, the subfloor and the board manufacturer's guidance first.

Do I need to check anything before fitting a floor in a flat?

Yes. Look at your lease or building rules for conditions on hard flooring and sound. An acoustic underlay is common. Tell us about the building when you book the survey.

Does living in a conservation area affect my floor?

Not for laying a floor indoors. Conservation-area and Article 4 rules in Wandsworth cover external works. Listed buildings and leasehold flats can have separate rules, so check before you order.

Should I move furniture before you arrive?

Rooms need to be clear for fitting. If you have heavy furniture, mention it at the survey so we can plan.

Why do boards need to be acclimatised?

Wood takes up and gives off moisture. Leaving boards in the room before laying lets them settle to its temperature and humidity, which reduces gaps and lifting later.

Which areas do you cover?

Wandsworth Town, Battersea, Putney, Clapham Junction, Balham, Tooting, Earlsfield, Southfields, Wandsworth Common and Roehampton, plus nearby addresses. Send your postcode to confirm.
